I started watching Castle last night, because I've been in the mood for mysteries, and you are all completely right! IT'S TOTALLY ADORABLE.

The cases are kind of idiotic - I mean, they're okay, but also utterly predictable for someone who grew up in the Law & Order era of crime television - but the characters are darling, every single one of them. I would totally hang out at the Castle household with his awesome mom and even more awesome daughter all day long.

How cute is Alexis? She's my favorite TV teenager! I would totally plot to steal her away from her dad if they didn't adore each other so much. And Molly Quinn actually is a teenager, wonder of wonders, and not a twenty-something doing an appalling job of pretending to be one. I didn't know they let teenagers play teenagers on TV anymore.

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY LONG ISLAND ICED TEAS.

Or is there?

Guys, gals, I watched Star Trek again yesterday, and I think it is important for everybody to know:

1) Spock calls Kirk "Jim" readily and without prompting. THEREFORE YOUR FICS IN WHICH HE DOES NOT USE KIRK'S FIRST NAME ARE WRONG.

2) Chekov says "Captain." The word is recognizably "Captain." It is not any other variation on the word "Captain" no matter how obsessed you are with writing shitty accents. THEREFORE YOUR FICS IN WHICH HE CAN'T PRONOUNCE THAT ONE ENGLISH WORD ARE WRONG.

3) Jim Kirk knows at least some sections of Stafleet Regulation by heart and makes note of them to himself when he's marching across the glaciers of Hoth. THEREFORE YOUR FICS IN WHICH HE DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT STARFLEET RULES ARE WRONG.

I thought you should know. Stop writing fics that are wrong; they make me sad.

Do you know what I love? Two things, actually. 1) I love snow! It is snowing. Wheeee! and 2) I love how there is suddenly all this long, awesome Panic!/TYV fic being posted lately. Double wheeee! THEY ARE STILL MY FAVORITE BAND BOYS AND HOW I HAVE MISSED THEM.

Wait, wait! Another thing I love: new Doctor Who in a few days! \o/

A thing I do not love: wrapping presents. *SIGH*

Staying up until 4:30 a.m. watching Lewis to satisfy a sudden and inexplicable craving for high-brow British mystery shows featuring entirely too well-educated people involved in ridiculously complicated crimes that require completely implausible extents of literary allusion in the crime-fighting process: good idea or great idea?

The trouble is now I want to go back and watch the entire run of Inspector Morse from beginning to end. I didn't really watch that much TV back in the day - not until grad school, really, hard as it is to believe considering my current habits - but I always watched Morse on Mystery! on PBS with my dad. Always always always. Never missed it. (My dad and I still quote Morse at each other at random moments and frequently greet each other by saying, "Here we are again, Lewis.") (Oh, shut up. I don't judge your family quirks, do I?)

...But I am not going to stay up until 5:30 a.m. watching clips of John Thaw on YouTube, because that will probably make me cry. :(

Current Location: the wrong side of morning

The Criminal Minds episode "The Crossing" was on a bit ago. I really love that episode a lot. It's not a flashy episode, you know? But I love it.

our show is a most feminist show )

Oh! I also watched this week's episode. Or last week's? Whatever it was. It was the episode entitled (in my head) "In Which Emily Prentiss Is More Badass Than Everyone." The case didn't really stick with me, but the badassery of Emily Prentiss more than made up for it. SHE'S MY FAVORITE, YOU KNOW. I've perhaps mentioned it once or twice before. ♥
